Pleated blinds are a popular shading option that adds a lot of kerb appeal to a home. They have a homespun charm that feels very welcoming and gives your living space a warm and comfortable vibe. Recently though, we’ve had a few questions about how durable they are.
There seems to be a growing misconception that pleated blinds aren’t as long-lasting as other types. Here at Appeal Home Shading, we’d like to put that myth to rest. We’ve worked with pleated blinds for years and can say with full confidence that they’re as tough and reliable as any other blind.
Installing Pleated Blinds
We think the idea comes from how pleated blinds work. They’re a single piece of fabric which makes them perfect for blocking external light sources (no more malfunctioning lampposts keeping you awake at night) and fold up when not in use. This gives the impression that they’re flimsy, but this is false.
Pleated blinds are designed to be durable. Our in-house engineers have put a lot of effort into making sure they won’t distort or stretch, and you can rely on them to last for years. They’ll maintain a neat and even appearance and they’ll withstand repeated use with no trouble. We also supply a cordless version, where the blinds are operated via remote control and there’s no risk of an over-excited pet getting tangled in a wire and pulling them down.
The Benefits
When you install pleated blinds, you don’t need to worry about repair or replacement costs. However, that’s not the only benefit. We’ve already touched upon their aesthetics, but it’s worth remembering that pleated blinds are eye-catching and attractive. There’s a subtle sophistication about them and they’ll help increase the value of your home. It’s impossible to put a precise figure on it, but you can expect to ask for a higher price if you ever decide to sell your property.
Plus, like all our blinds, they’re a great way to cut down on your heating costs. During the winter, they’ll trap heat and help your home stay warmer without putting so much strain on the electricity bill. And during the summer months, they’ll have the opposite effect. They’ll reflect the harsh UV rays of the sun and make it easier to keep cool. If you’ve ever experienced a stuffy and uncomfortable conservatory, you’ll know how beneficial this will be.
As you can probably tell, we’re very proud of our pleated blinds here at Appeal. They bring a whole range of advantages and are tougher than they look.
